Bismillāh · Offline Audio Player
Listen to the Qur'ān
offline, without ads.
I built OffWave for myself — to listen to the Qur'ān, naʿats, and duʿās offline, on any device, with real volume control and zero tracking. If it helps you too, alḥamdulillāh.
The Story
Why I built OffWave
I wanted to listen to the Qur'ān at night without disturbing my family. Every app and every site had one or more problems: they needed internet, they showed ads, they tracked me, or — the most frustrating one — the phone's lowest volume setting was still too loud. Plenty of people have asked this on Reddit, Quora, Android forums, OnePlus community — the fix is usually "use Samsung SoundAssistant" or "put tape over your speaker." That's not a fix.
Quran.com is excellent for translation and reading, but you need internet to stream audio, and I wanted something that works on a plane, in a tunnel, on airplane mode at 3am. I also wanted volume below 100% (quieter than my phone's default minimum) and above 100% (for quiet reciters through bad speakers) — without distortion.
So I built OffWave. It's a Progressive Web App — that means it installs on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, any browser, from the same single link. One codebase, everywhere. Your files stay on your device, in your browser's local database. Nothing uploads anywhere. There are no accounts, no analytics watching what you play, and no ads.
OffWave is a generic audio player — it plays whatever MP3s you import. I built it for Qur'ān and halal audio. What you choose to load into it is between you and Allāh ﷻ.
Features
Everything a simple player should have
Fully offline
After first load, works on airplane mode, in tunnels, on planes, with no signal. Your files never leave your device.
Volume 0–200%
Go below your phone's system minimum for quiet night listening, or above 100% with a soft limiter for quiet reciters.
Bass, Echo, Reverb
Simple audio effects for quiet recordings that need a boost, or subtle ambience when you want it. All real-time, all offline.
No tracking, no accounts
No sign-up, no cookies, no ads. A tiny privacy-respecting visit counter — that's all. No one sees what you play.
Install on any device
iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS. "Add to Home Screen" and it feels like a native app. One codebase, everywhere.
Lock-screen controls
Play, pause, skip, and seek from your lock screen and notification shade — exactly like Spotify or Apple Music.
Where to get audio
Need Qur'ān recitations?
OffWave is just the player — bring your own audio. For Qur'ān, I recommend Quran.com. They have nearly every famous reciter with clean downloads, and their translations and tafsir are excellent. Download the MP3s, then import them into OffWave for offline listening.

Questions
Frequently asked
Is OffWave really free?
Yes, completely free. No ads, no subscription, no "premium" tier, no upsell. I built it for myself and kept it free because flipping it into a paid product feels wrong for a Qur'ān-focused tool.
Does it actually work offline?
Yes. On first visit, the app caches itself via a Service Worker. After that, turn on airplane mode and everything — player, effects, your imported tracks — keeps working. Your MP3s live in your browser's IndexedDB, not on any server.
Can I use it for the Qur'ān?
That's the main reason I built it. Download your favorite reciter from Quran.com, import into OffWave, and listen offline with full volume control. Works great for naʿats free of shirk, duʿās, and other halal audio too.
My phone's lowest volume is still too loud. Does this help?
This is one of the main reasons OffWave exists. The in-app volume goes from 0% to 200%, separate from your system volume. Set your phone to a comfortable level, then use OffWave's slider to drop it quieter than the system would normally allow. No taping over speakers required.
Does OffWave upload my files anywhere?
No. There is no server side. Your MP3s are stored in your browser's local IndexedDB, on your device, under your control. The only network request OffWave makes on first load is to download itself — after that, nothing goes out except a lightweight cookieless ping to count visits.
Which devices does it work on?
Any device with a modern browser: iPhone (Safari), Android (Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet), Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS. You can also "Add to Home Screen" to install it like a native app. One PWA, every platform.
Who made this?
Muhammad Zaigham — a Muslim developer building small, useful tools at MZift.com. Other things I've made: Hijri Calendar, Tasbeeh Counter. If OffWave helps you, a small duʿāʾ for me and my family is more valuable than any money would be.
Ready to listen?
No sign-up, no install required. Open the player, import your files, you're done.
